The sad loss of Danny Ayres, who raced for Leicester in 2017, has led to the club giving their support to a campaign led by Leicestershire County Council who are working in partnership with a number of organisations, from a variety of sectors in the community that have come together with a commitment to prevent suicide.
The campaign entitled ‘Start a Conversation’ is a suicide prevention campaign that aims to build a community that is committed to the mental health and wellbeing of its residents. The Lions promoter Dave Darcy said: “We were all deeply saddened to learn that Danny was no longer with us. He made many friends during his time at Leicester and by giving our support to this initiative we can help play a part in making a difference by raising awareness.”
“In helping to underpin the suicide prevention campaign we will carry an advertisement in our match day magazine throughout this season and will do everything we can to raise the profile of Start a Conversation.”
